Some Great Web Links

Web Generators

I've looked high and low for a tool that would make it VERY easy for the non-technical person to create and maintain their own Web site. Check out the WebExpress site for more information about a great tool. This Web site was built with WebExpress. If you choose to use WebExpress you might want to join the user group.

Web Editors

There are many "Web Editors" that can help you create and maintain your Web site. If you are comfortable with this type of software then go ahead and use them. They require a strong technical capability. Some good ones are HomeSite, and DreamWeaver. Using WebExpress will eliminate the need for a Web Editor.

FTP

Copying your Web changes to your Internet Service Provider's server is a fundamental requirement for most Web sites. A good "File Transfer Protocol" (FTP) solution is WS FTP. WebExpress has FTP built in.

Graphics

Without a doubt the best bang for your buck in graphic software is PaintShop Pro. You can not maintain a Web site or deal with Web graphics without a good graphics software package and this one will provide great functionality for beginners and experts.

ZIP Software

The "ZIP" capability has become associated with the software named "WinZip" which allows large amounts of information, or individual files, to be compressed to reduce the time it takes to send files to other people (or deliver via Web pages). All Web site owners need to have this software.

Web Search

Doing any type of research via the Web requires some unique skills. However, anyone can become quite competent if they use some of the better search engines. Two very good sites will perform searches across many other search site. Check out Google and Dogpile.

Free Software

There are many good shareware and freeware software solutions available via the Web. DaveCentral and NoNags site are good examples of these types of Web sites. Be careful, loading to many programs on you computer can make your computer inoperable.
